Effective date: 20 July 2026
ZapOrScrap is a leftovers tracker that runs entirely on your device.
What we collect
Nothing. ZapOrScrap has no servers, no accounts, no analytics, no ads, and no third-party SDKs that communicate over the internet. The app does not request the Android internet permission, which means the operating system itself prevents it from sending anything anywhere. You can verify this with any permission inspection tool.
What stays on your phone
- Photos you take of your leftovers
- The shelf-life dates you choose
- A small local database that ties the two together
All of it lives in the app’s private storage on your device. Android’s backup upload is disabled for this app, so this data is not copied to cloud backups. Deleting an item deletes its photo. Expired items and their photos are automatically deleted 48 hours after they expire. Uninstalling the app deletes everything.
Permissions the app uses
- Camera: to photograph your containers. Photos go only to the app’s private folder on your phone.
- Notifications: to remind you near mealtimes when food is on its last day or has hit its date.
- Run at startup: so those reminders survive a phone restart.
Payments
ZapOrScrap is a paid app purchased through Google Play. Your payment is handled entirely by Google Play; the app itself has no access to any payment information.
Children
ZapOrScrap is a general-audience utility and does not knowingly collect any data from anyone, including children, because it collects no data at all.
Changes
If a future version ever changes what the app can access, this policy and the app’s Play Store Data safety section will be updated before release.
